Something for the Younger Ones

Here at the Academy I see how this place is changing the lives of our adult students everyday.  Now imagine if you could give this to a child that you know! The Academy offers a great opportunity to be in the best Junior programs in the state. Lets pass this great sport on to the younger generation and change lives!

A bucket list is a list of things to do before you die or before you ‘kick the bucket!’In the film by the same name, Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson’s characters, after being diagnosed with terminal cancer, write their own bucket lists and spend their remaining time going around the world trying to complete each item, including seeing many of the wonders of the world, sky diving, and getting back in touch with estranged family members. After seeing the film, I was having a conversation with a colleague about the things that would be on our own bucket lists. I realized that many of them were fitness related, so I decided to draw up a proper ‘fitness bucket list.’

Holiday Updates

The once yearly Winter Special only lasts until Jan 15th! Do not let this one pass. If you've been wanting to start, and have just been needing the "push".... This is it!

We will be closed Monday the 2nd for new years day. But I expect to see all the new commitment on the mat on Tuesday!

Remember. Set goals for your new year. If you don't have a map and a route, you can't get anywhere!

Jay's walk out shirts

Jay's walk out shirts will be getting printed very soon and there are still a couple of sponsor spots available for any of you business owners out there.  We're doing his shirts a little different than you usually see these done.  Instead of doing tons of spots we've opted to only do a few locations so your logo can actually be seen.  We have one smaller spot left and two larger spots.  Contact Mandy at amanda.buckner@gmail.com asap if you want in.

Happy Festivus (or whatever you do)!

We hope that you have a safe and happy holiday weekend. At The Academy, we officilly recognize Festivus. It's a perfect match. Non commercialism..... Airing of Grievances..... Feats of Strength. Perfect. Even the way the holiday was born:

"Many Christmases ago, I went to buy a doll for my son. I reached for the last one they had, but so did another man. As I rained blows upon him, I realized there had to be another way."

I think next year we may have a Festivus pole up at The Academy. You know, maybe we'll have an actual Festivus celebration! Feats of Strength and all!
