Filipino Stick/Knife Fighting- This clinic will cover the basic attack and defense strategy in the Filipino style of Stick/Knife fighting. The techniques will be based on the Balintawak Arnis sytem, although we will get into some of the other systems/methods that I have trained in. Namely JKD Kali/Escrima, and Dog Brothers concepts. We will only be covering the basics of single stick/knife. Practical application is the focus.
May 5th
Parkour (agility)- This clinic will develop agility through the practice of Parkour. Parkour is more rightly thought of as a form of martial art than an exercise method. The concept of Parkour is to get from point A to point B as EFFICIENTLY as possible. Notice I didn't say anything about doing backflips. Do not get your definition of Parkour from youtube. We've all heard the term "Fight or Flight". Well, this is the "flight" version of the martial arts. This is not about extreme sports. This is about re-developing our natural human agility.
May 12th
Conflict Diffusion/Escorting Techniques- This clinic will cover techniques in how to get control of a situation without fighting. This is NOT self defense. This is defense of others, while trying to avoid escalating the use of force. It's not hard to choke someone out, and drag them out by their foot. It's way trickier to talk someone out. Or to escort them out.... without it turning into a fight. I think that once you know how to fight when the crap hits the fan..... your best technique is to keep the crap off of the fan. This will help you not need to use that choke you know!
