As a new student at The Academy you may be overwhelmed with all the information being taught. With new situations like circuit training. With so many different levels on the mat. What do you do in regards to setting achievable goals? To often I have heard, " I'm not tapping to that guy". Or "I'm going to pull off this sweet submission I saw on YouTube". These are not realistic goals as a white belt you should be setting. Here are a couple of things I look for in white belts. Improve basic conditioning, learn the name of positions and moves, paying attention in class, coming to two or three classes week. These are some realistic goals you can set. As a beginner going in with unrealistic goals and not meeting them can lead to a feeling failure which eventually lead to not wanting to come to class and then quitting. Remember set small realistic goals that you can achieve and once those small ones are met start setting bigger goals and one day you will ultimately succeed in achieving a Black Belt!
Remember, a Black Belt is just a White Belt that never quit!
